Be Clear, Be Radiant, Be Ageless.
Be Blessed.
Springtime ushers in the feeling of fresh starts. Days are getting longer and the birds are starting to sing. It's one of my favorite times of year!
You're probably busy cleaning out closets and switching your candles from warm and cozy scents to breezy florals. Once you make your way to the bathroom drawers, let me help you "spring clean" your skincare routine
A cream cleanser gave you extra moisture protection during the colder months, but for some skin types Spring is a great time to switch to a gel cleanser.
This will help you get a head start on achieving a deeper cleanse as temperatures rise. Warmer weather usually means an increase in oil production and sweat so switching to a gel cleanser will ensure clean skin.
During Winter we experience something called Trans-Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL). This is when the dry atmosphere makes the water in our skin evaporate, just like a puddle evaporates off blacktop. Winter literally sucks the moisture out of our skin which is why it's super beneficial to use a thicker mositurizer for added protection.
Spring's mild temperatures are much easier on the skin and we don't experience as mush TEWL so feel free to switch to a lighter moisturizer.
Advanced Renewal Moisturizer and Sheer Peptide Lotion are a perfect consistency for this time of year. They won't leave you feeling greasy, but will give the skin a soft and hydrated feel.
As you spend more time outdoors enjoying the much needed sunshine, keep your skin protection with antioxidants. When we are exposed to sunlight, free radical damage can occur.
Free radicals invade the skin and start to damage your healthy skin cells which leads to premature aging and discoloration. Antioxidants have the amazing power to find these radicals and destroy them so they can't do anymore damage AND they can repair skin cells that have already been damaged. Win-win!
Antioxidant C Serum is a great choice because you only need to apply it once in the morning for all day protection. It will be effective in the skin for up to 24 hours.
You've already been doing this everyday....right?
Sunscreen is the #1 anti-aging product on the market. Apply it every morning, come rain or shine. If it's daylight out, UVA and UVB rays are present and can damage skin.
Advanced Protection spf 30 makes a great daytime moisturizer with sun protection because it is light-weight and non-greasy. Silky Sunscreen is a great choice for non-acne skin types that doubles as an makeup primer.
Check the expiration dates on all skincare and makeup products. It's likely we've all held on to products way too long. Once a product is expired it's efficacy goes way down and there could be bacteria lurking in the bottle. If it's expired, toss it.
Give all your makeup brushes a good cleaning too while you are at it. Most brushes can be washed with a mild shampoo and left on the counter to dry.
A seasonal facial is a great way to get your skin ready for warmer weather. Spring is the perfect time for peels since sun exposure is still fairly limited but yet the air is not overly drying. Peel away the dead, dehydrated layers of winter skin to reveal more radiant, soft skin.
At your facial appointment your Esthetician can recommend the perfect products for your skin type. After all, she just spent an hour working on your face and she has a really good feel for what your skin is lacking. Getting skincare advice from a trusted professional is always the best idea!
